Tavistock Allan is involved in writing a film script for a series of Manx-based legends whilst Mannanan Mac Lir is left to baby-sit Tavistock's son George.Detective inspector Bob Callow, Tavistock's oldest school friend, is on holiday and up to his ears in home improvement manuals, lilac paint and an incomprehensible list of instructions on how to build a Japanese water feature.A peaceful summer is looked forward to by all concerned. That is, until Harold Erskine is the unfortunate inebriated witness to the drowning of a young investigative journalist and Bob Callow is called to the airport to investigate an unsavoury finding amongst the luggage of Sir Arthur Felton, local hero and grandfather of the Island's first Euro MP.
What exactly did Sir Arthur try to hide during the years of internment, and how is the current filming involved?
The only person who seems to know something is Mannanan Mac Lir, ancient guardian of Mann, and he appears to be doing a better cover up than the politicians, desperate not to wash their dirty linen in public.
