The Chronicles of Edwin Snipe

Book Cover The Chronicles of Edwin Snipe by Linda Mann The Chronicles of Edwin Snipe. The year is 2030 and England is being run by The New Management. Only women can reach senior management positions, the President is a women, every Member of Parliament is a woman, even the Archbishop of Canterbury has a working womb.

The Nanny State has truly arrived, education is the best in Europe, the Hospitals are all firmly in the hands of MATRON and even the trains run on time.

However all is not well and certain factions are not happy with the continued absence of a Royal Family and the dissolution of the Establishment. No longer able to influence anyone higher than a CORGI-registered plumber, the last remaining bastion of the House of Windsor looks to Scotland (still running under the old order) for help and finds it under the newly re-formed Banner of Montrose.

Edwin Snipe is 24, male and the pampered playmate of Clarris Sharpe, the aptly named Minister of Home Affairs. His only role in life is to satisfy the needs of his employer - anywhere, any place, any time - a role he fills perfectly until the fateful day that the black sheep of his family tracks him down and spontaneously combusts in front of him.

Edwin suddenly finds himself in trouble with the police, the press and a particularly murderous individual known only as Mr Warwick.

In mortal danger Edwin flees London in the company of investigative journalist Mavis Wordsworth onboard a 42ft canal barge. His goal is to reach Scotland in time to find out who killed his Uncle Tobias and why.

On the Way he meets Murdock the only occasionally sober cartoonist, a psychotic duck called Erik, an assortment of underground fighters, fish-slappers, foul and midnight hags and the Isle of Man Government's version of the Spanish Inquisition.
